                      Challenge from Lesley
 We are all missing people we love and are unable to get close to.  So this challenge is to paint/draw a picture of the person family or friend, who you want to Hug as soon as it is allowed.  (This should be someone it is not permitted to hug or cuddle now.)  The picture can be in any medium and when completed should be photographed and sent to me   I look forward to seeing who you are really hoping to hug or cuddle.  I know who I will paint/draw, and hug as soon as allowed.        Lesley

The next challenge from Jeannie
Three peonies from my garden. Ignoring the canes, paint them using any
 medium.
 Be bold , these are not shy flowers. You could even try using ink and
>a stick!

 By using your own hand as the model, draw a couple of poses. Because a tinted paper was used, white chalk was added for the highlights.

The Next challenge from Jeannie
 the sunlight / shadows coming through the glass make a good subject for you to tackle.
You can use your own reference material as long as it has similar strong contrasts.

Another new challenge from Jeannie
Although lockdown has eased, some of us feel safer at home but we can imagine places where we would like to be.   So using any medium, paint a real or imaginary place where this could be.
Do not forget to send in a picture when you have completed any of the challenges. ​

A Further challenge from Jeannie
Using watercolour, paint a pair of boots( or shoes) in monochrome. i.e. one colour which gives a good range of tonal contrasts.  Indigo has been used here but you could use sepia, paynes grey, burnt umber etc.   A wash was applied first and I tried to use wet- into - wet as much as possible.

We were shown how to add texture to a gouche or watercolour painting and also some colour mixing tips, and fun was had by all.

June 2016 we learnt about using a different technique.  The session was called  'Broken Brush work'    where we used Acrylic, Pastel and/or Coloured Pencil.
